    Mothers Against Crack Cocaine, Inc. MACC-ON-TRACC will hold their monthly meeting 10/26/04 at 7:30 p.m.

    MACC has extended an invitation to Mental Health and Substance Abuse for their September meeting. They have confirmed they will attend to address the group. We feel this is of importance in our fight against drug trafficing and crack cocaine addiction.     School has started, teachers are encouraged to call 647-9552 to schedule a tour for the upcoming school year.

    Gonzales AARP-TAX Aid program needs 4 working computer monitors. If you have up-graded your computer monitor and a have a monitor you are not using, and want to donate it for volunteers in this program, contact Warren Croom, 225-622-4704. The AARP Foundation is a 501(c)(3) so any donations to the AARP may qualify for a tax deduction.
    •Brown Bag-Jambalaya Park
    Help celebrate the fall season in a beautiful park around the fountain and outdoor theatre on Friday, Oct. 22, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Music will be provided by the East Ascension Band at 12 noon. Bring your own food and drink.

    St. Amant High School is hosting a Financial Aid Seminar for students grades 9-11 and parents on Tues., Nov. 9, at 7pm in the school commons area.     Support Group for parents that have children with Bipolar or other mental illnesses. The group will meet at the Ascension Parish Library in Gonzales. If you or someone you know may be interested, call Stephanie for details at 675-6703.
    • Energy Assistance
    Need help on your light bill or gas bill? Gonzales 644-8532, Donaldsonville 473-8361. If you have not applied for LIHEAP assistance in 2001 contact your Quad Area office for details. Bring your proof of gross monthly income for the prior month, bring your highest utility bill within the last five months, and bring the social security numbers for all household members. Office hours are M-F 8 till 4:30 and Saturday 9-12 through December 15, 2001. Remember - You cannot apply if you have applied within the last 12 months.
    • A.P.A.W.S. Adoption Days
    A.P.A.W.S. Adoption Days has moved to the new PetsMart off Siegen Lane in Baton Rouge. Adoption Days are held each Saturday from 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM and Sunday from 11:30 AM - 4:00 PM.     The In Home Rx Program makes available breathing medications and Nebulizers to patients who may have Asthma, Emphysema or Copd at no cost to the recipient, if they quality.     The Office of Community Services provides an ongoing recruitment campaign in search of new foster and adoptive homes. This is accomplished by differant methods including presentations, speeches and various advertising strategies.

    There are no fees involved. However, once a person decides to move forward in the application process there are requirements that must be met.

    • Alpha Learning Systems Alcohol Awareness Classes
    < Alcohol Awareness Classes are held at Mandarin Seafood (Mongolian Bar-B-Q) 6989 Florida Blvd. (corner Donmoor & Florida),every Thursday at 7:00pm and every Sunday at 5:00pm.

    As a state approved provider for the Responsible Vendor's Program. We teach the Alcohol Awareness Classes as mandated by the State of Louisiana. State law provides that all persons, but not limited to selling, serving, and handling alcohol attend these classes and obtain a State Permit. Participants must have a valid ID, Driver's License, Military ID, or Passport. There is a $25.00 fee for this required course. Permits are issued on site for those who qualify and pass the required exam.
